Hello and welcome to our campervan / motorhome Aire in South Wales! We are Ali and Amy and we hope that you enjoy your stay with us.
We set up this Aire to give people the opportunity for a safe overnight stop over and the chance to explore the local area. Our Aire is licenced by The Motorcaravanners’ Club and is open to all, regardless of whether you’re a member or not.
We’ve really enjoyed travelling in our campervan across the UK and Europe and have often used Aires on our travels. Check out our Campervan blog and our YouTube channel where we share details of our trips.
Location and how to find us
We are situated on Crofft yr Haidd Farm near Penycoedcae which is close to Pontypridd. We are 11 miles north west of the M4 junction 32 and 7 miles north of the M4 junction 34. Unfortunately, our postcode does not get you to where we are, as we are in a rural area. The best way to find us is to use the postcode CF37 1PZ for Tonyrefail Road. Then you can use either this Google Map link or What 3 Words: ///booster.legal.waggled. The road from Tonyrefail Road to the farm is generally less than 4m wide with plenty of passing places.
Please don’t come via any other way as the route south of us gets quite narrow and some larger vehicles may struggle.
How long can I stay?
Our licence means that you can stay for either 1 or 2 nights. Bookings are normally 12 noon to 12 noon the following day.
How many spaces do you have?
We can accommodate a maximum of 2 vehicles and the area is hardstanding. We can accommodate vehicles up to 9m in length.
How much is it?
£10 per night (it’s slightly more for advance bookings through AirBnB – see below)
How do I book a night at your Aire?
We have one space that is bookable using AirBnB. The other space is on a first come first served basis but you can check availability by contacting us on WhatsApp.
Do you have any photos of the Aire?
Yes – either visit our Google map listing or head over to our AirBnB listing for lots of photos.
What facilities are there are your Aire?
Our facilities are basic and as our Aire is aimed at self-contained motorhomes / campervans only. Unfortunately we cannot accept Car Campers due to the conditions on our Licence. We do not currently have the facility for grey / toilet waste and there are no loos / showers on site. We’re on a spring water system and unfortunately the costs of getting the water tested for public consumption prohibits us from being able to offer water refill at this time.
Recycling
For recycling, we have a mixed recycling bin just off to the side of the Aire. There is also a general waste bin next to it.
Fire Pit
You are welcome to use our fire pit and to burn any sticks / wood that we have put aside in the metal bin next to it.
Dogs
Dogs are welcome to stay but must be kept on a lead. We have a public footpath off our yard which runs for approximately 1/3 mile traffic-free where dogs are able to run off their lead, but bear in mind that there is normally livestock either side of the route.
BBQs
We’re happy for you to use a gas BBQ but unfortunately (due to fire risks) we don’t allow disposable BBQs on site.
Other important info
Unfortunately we are unable to allow the use of generators and awnings on our site.
Transport to / from the farm
Some people ask how they can get to / from the farm by bus. We are 1 mile from the nearest bus stop at Penycoedcae where you can get the 404 bus to / from Pontypridd. For more information on services, check the Traveline Cymru website. There is also a useful taxi booking app called Techxi which serves the local are.
What animals do you have on your farm?
We have a flock of Black Welsh Mountain sheep who normally have lambs around the middle of April (if you’d like to catch cute lambs running around). We also have a horse (Romeo), a Border Collie, two cats, two chickens and five ducks.

What’s the night sky like over you?
On a clear night, you can see LOTS of stars and also various satellites. We use the James Darpinian website to see what satellites pass over us and we regularly see the International Space Station pass overhead.
What is there to do in your area?
Closest pub / restaurant: The Queen’s Head pub is just over 1 mile from us in Penycoedcae (location here). They are a CASH ONLY venue and do the most AMAZING home cooked food on Fridays and Saturdays from 4pm. Last food orders 8pm. They are also open for breakfast Thursday – Saturday from 8:30am to 12pm. They do roast dinners on Sundays 12noon to 3pm but its advisable to book in advance. There is also a children’s play area across the road and the pub is dog friendly. They’re not open Mondays to Wednesdays and for the latest info, connect with their Facebook page.

The Four Waterfalls Walk – this is a lovely walk taking in the sights of four impressive waterfalls – parking info is here. Parking can get really busy at peak times so best to go early if you can. Check out our video of doing this walk which ended in walking behind one of the falls!

Closest mini-mart: Spar in Beddau – they also do click and collect within 1 hour via the Snappy Shopper website.

Lovely Tea Room and Gift shop: The Potting Shed and Mad Hatter’s Tea room at Country Timbers near Llantrisant.
