Our shortest campervan trip to France

Our shortest campervan trip to France

Campervan, Latest posts
We made a last minute decision to spend a week in France in the campervan...would we get stuck in traffic and miss our ferry? Would we eat our bodyweight in baguettes and croissants? We never travel in August, ever. Why? Because the cost of travel is insane and the traffic is well known for being ridiculous. But, in an attempt to spread out our annual leave, we ended up booking a couple of weeks off in August with no real plan of how to use it. As the time got closer, the weather wasn't looking great for a break in the UK so we booked to go to France. Going on the Eurotunnel would mean selling a couple of kidneys, so we booked the ferry from Dover to Calais instead.…

7 delicious foods that we miss from Malta

Malta - a little island with a big heart nestled in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by bright blue, crystal clear water. It was a place we called home for a couple of years and whilst we were there we fell in love with the food (and drink). We're hoping to get back there for a short visit this year so we can visit family and friends. But we also can't wait to eat our way around the island again! Here are 7 foods that we miss, in no particular order. Frawli (Strawberries) Let's start with something healthy as our list gets more high calorie from now on. Okay so you can get strawberries from anywhere, and at any time. But believe us, nothing compares to fresh Maltese…

Our 7-day ultimate Vegan challenge

Latest posts
On Tuesday 20th April 2021, we decided to challenge ourselves to eat only vegan food for seven days. How did we get on? Read more... WHY? For some time now we've both been moaning about our diet but haven't done anything about it. We've become conscious that if Ollie is going to eat healthily then we need to do the same. In the spirit of 'go big or go home', we decided to go head first into being vegan. No dairy and no meat for a whole seven days! HOW? This wasn't something we went into without any planning. Before committing to the challenge we did a bit of research on vegan recipes. The BBC Good Food website was a fantastic resource and helped us to narrow things down to…

We’ve launched an exciting new Podcast!

During lockdown with nowhere to go and not so much to do (apart from being parents to Ollie), we decided to start a podcast! WHY? We've got a little YouTube channel and thought for a while about interviewing Ali's sister, Ellie. Ellie has made some bold moves in life and we thought it would be fun to get her to talk about her experiences. We took the plunge and really enjoyed the discussion with her. That led to us getting the idea to create a podcast! WHAT'S IT CALLED? We decided to call our podcast 'Living Life Differently'. This was a motto that we spoke about for ourselves a few years ago. Fed up with living in the rat race, we decided that we needed more adventure in our lives…

France, Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar, a tour of the Mediterranean coast...our dreams of family campervan travels are currently on hold and for lots of reasons. 2020 What a year! It started on New Years Eve of 2019 with us finding out the amazing news that we were pregnant. This was closely followed by the devastating floods in South Wales (see our video about that here). Then Coronavirus hit, and this changed life as we know it. In May we found out that Ali's career break had been approved and we started to plan for future travels. Fast forward a few months of lockdown, social distancing and different ways of working to the best thing that happened for us this year. Ollie was born in September (cute video here) and changed our…

Shortly after we found out we were pregnant, and after the pandemic started, we decided to find a way to spend the first year of his life together. In effect we're taking an adult gap year; here's why and how. What's our motivation? We found out that Amy was pregnant on New Years Eve of 2020 and since then, the world has been a little bit crazy. In February we felt the full force of Mother Nature as Wales was lashed with extreme weather. An incredible amount of rain fell in a short space of time, which resulted in the River Taf flooding. The majority of houses on our street flooded; fortunately only our car…
